Late 18th century Dutch brass folding lantern with its original tinned iron carrying case. Each side of the lantern features an arched crest with repoussé shells. Three sides have glass lites, the fourth side a folding handle. This type of lantern was used for traveling and it is extremely rare to have retained its original case. There is slight separation of the brass at one corner and an old crack in one of the lites.
